The Indian Railways offers a travel insurance program for a low cost of 35 paise per passenger to provide some level of financial protection in the aftermath of a tragic train accident in Odisha. Benefit 1 : Incase of Death
The insurance company will pay 100% of the Sum Insured stated in the Schedule if the Insured sustains accidental bodily injury resulting in death within 12 months of the date of the accident or untoward incident.

Benefit 2: Incase of of Permanent total disability

If an Insured sustains an accidental bodily injury during the Trip resulting in permanent total disability within 12 months of the date of the accident or untoward incident, 100% of the Sum Insured applicable to the Insured will be payable. Permanent total disability may include, but is not limited to, total paralysis, loss of sight, loss of hearing, or loss of speech.

Benefit 3:In case of Permanent partial disability

If the insured sustains an accidental bodily injury during the trip that directly and independently leads to permanent partial disability within 12 months of the date of the accident or incident, the insurer will pay 75% of the sum insured.

Benefit 4: Hospitalisation expenses for injury
The Insurance Company will cover medical expenses up to Rs.2 lakh for an Injury sustained by the Insured while on a Trip during the Period of Insurance. This includes expenses incurred for Hospitalization and medical treatment.

Benefit 5: Transportation of mortal remains
If an insured person dies solely and directly due to a train accident or untoward incident as defined under sections 123, 124 and 124A of the Railways Act, 1989, during a trip, the Insurance Company will reimburse up to Rs. 10,000/- as the cost of transporting the remains to the usual place of residence or to a cremation or burial ground.
